New frontiers of irrigation in Latin America: means, effects, controversies
8-8 Mar 2022 Montpellier (France)

Description

This conference focus on the place of water in the globalisation of agricultural production with a particular interest on territorial dynamics in Latin America's rural areas. It aims to put into perspective several points and theoretical perspectives of this issue, bringing together researchers and students in an interdisciplinary perspective (geography, sociology, hydrology, political science).

It will be a closing seminar of an international research project, funded by the CNRS (call "International Emerging Actions" 2019). Entitled HydroCerrado, it was conducted with Brazilian colleagues from the University of Brasilia. Thus, the seminar will have an international scope, with Latin American and European guests, and will be in the trend of the interdisciplinary researches leading by many reasearch centers and institutions in Montpellier (ICIREWARD UNESCO Center, GIS Pôle foncier hosted within the Maison des Sciences de l'Homme de Montpellier (MSHM).
